Grains Inspection Lab.

The inspection of grain is vital to determine the grade. Once the samples of grains are received from the ports, the lab carries out a number of analyses. Specific weight of the grain is ascertained and moisture content measured to determine the possibility of storage and the percentage of dry matter.

The grains are graded to determine undesirable matter, such as foreign materials and kernels damaged as a result of insects, sprout, mold, drying and germ damage, or unsuitable treatments. Grains are also inspected for the presence of aflatoxins. The lab equipment is a gift from the United States Feed Grains Council.

RCFF operates three regional feed grain laboratories, one in the Giza headquarters, one at EI-Oekheila Port in Alexandria, and one in Port Said.
